WORK FROM HOME KILLING YOUR INNER SELF?

Just like you, it has been so many months since I last had face to face team meetings.

Team meeting, aka chit chatting with my team.

I miss my colleagues so much.

It sucks to work alone.

I wonder if I’ll ever get to work together like before.

Few days back, while talking to my friend on the phone he mentioned that he was going through a tough time as well.

Anxiety…. Uncertainty….

Lack of social contact…

Diminishing Productivity, resulting in threat to your job…

Most of the people feel this pain.

(Can we add more pain?)

Working from home isn’t for everyone—or not for everyone all the time.

When the lockdown first started in March, I loved this new concept of working from home.

I woke up at 7.55AM. even if I had to join work at 8.00AM.

Sharp 8.00 I would Login, touch base with my team.

And then go brush my teeth.

When I take a break from work I would go to the kitchen and spend a few minutes with my mum, grab some quick bites and get back to back to work.

Two months later, my wife sits with me in the room while I work; Half mind is in the conversation with her and half at work.

Mum asks me to go to the supermarket to get her cucumber for salads to be served for lunch.

My Uncle calls on mum’s phone and then I get pulled into the call to say hi. I would pause what I am doing and go take the call.

When I come back, the mind has to start all over again…

It gets worse as each day passes

Work discipline gets hit right, left and centre.

Slowly you realize your productivity has gone down drastically.

To cover up, we have to sit extra hours to finish the work assigned.

You have to sacrifice your usual exercise time for work.

As days pass by, this affects your mind more than your body.

You start to think your mind isnt working well.

You start to feel lonely.

Determination to work decreases.

No Motivation!

If you think about it, the root cause of this state of mind is lack of discipline.

One of the biggest barriers we all face when pursuing our learning goals is a lack of self-discipline. We may know where we want to go, but putting in the time and effort to get there is another thing entirely.

With that in mind, here are seven suggestions that can help you be more productive.

Designate a specific workspace. Studies show that having a specific workspace is important to help you focus

Take breaks and go outside. Sun and fresh air aren’t just great for plants; they’re good for you, too.

Customize your environment. If we can’t always control where we get to work, we can control our work environment.

Find a Coworking space: One of the biggest benefits of a coworking space is the opportunity to connect with other individuals. When we’re at home, it can be easy to get distracted. Kids need attention, the house needs to be cleaned or maintained and special projects can constantly crop up in our minds. By going to another space, you can solidify a “work mode” that can increase productivity.
